Zbigniew Macias

Zbigniew Macias graduated from The Musical Academy in ŁódĽ (Poland). As the prize-winner of the Jan Kiepura Aria and Song Festival in Krynica (Poland), the Vocal Contest in S'Hertogenbosch (Holland) and the Maria Callas Competition in Athens he did not rest on his laurels, but he left to Weimar to professor Lisicjan in order to do his master studies in the field of Russian music interpretation. He did also the master course in Victoria de Los Angeles in the field of romantic interpretation.

Since 1992 he has been the main baritone at the National Opera House in Warsaw. His repertoire consists of about 30 great parts, among other things: Don Giovanni (Warsaw, Luxembourg), Figaro (Poznań in Poland, Heilbronn in Germany, Whintertour in Switzerland), Amonasro in Aida (Poland, Germany), Nabucco (Warsaw, Touluse in France, Toure Lyon, Martinique, Denmark, China), Escamilio in Carmen (Spain, Boyonne in France, Brest), Johannan in Salome (Luxembourg, Warsaw) Amfortas in Parsifal at the festival in Bregenz (Austria) in 1994 at the Rene Kolo's side, Scarpia in Tosca at the festival in Carcasonne (France) in 1995.

He was the first polish Orestes in M. Theodorakis' Electra (Luxembourg 1995). Every year Zbigniew Macias is the guest of Opera Festival in Xanten (Germany). In 1997 he appeared in the role of Miecznik in S. Moniuszko's "Straszny dwór" with Great Buffalo Opera Company in Buffalo (USA). In 1999 he played a character Don Giovanni in Sao Paulo in Brazil and sang on the Opera Festival in Wexford in Ireland.

Scarpia w Tosce He can be seen in TV recordings like: "Tosca" with Metropolitan Opera star Teresa Kubiak and in the role of Janusz in S. Moniuszko's "Halka" with National Opera House in Warsaw. He prides himself on CD records like the one with his solo operatic recital, "Aida" and complete version of S.Moniuszko's "Halka" with National Opera House in Warsaw.
